In 'SimCity 4,' a city-building simulation game, you first create a region of land by terraforming and then zone your region as residential, commercial or industrial. During the game, you add zoning-appropriate features to the region and develop it.

Enhance Your 'SimCity 4' Game With Fan-Created Regions

Nov 22, 2012  Does anyone have some recommendations for mods that can be downloaded to add in more regions? Or is there a realistic random region generator mod somewhere? SimCity 4 Deluxe. (you can download it at SC4Devotion, do a Google search) and SC4 Mapper (Same place). Installing the Map Files into SimCity 4. 16) Launch the SimCity 4 game. 17) From the Main Menu of SimCity 4, Click on 'Load Region' and open an EXISTING region. 18) THEN click on 'Load Region' and open the region created in Step 3), above. 19) The configuration of the the config.bmp is displayed. I use it to create regions and then go to individual cities and paint the terrain or not. It's called 'Simcity 4 Region and Config Creator' (SSRACC) and it's a free download. I used it to make the two regions below. I am not for sure, but this may work as a simcity 4 deluxe region download. If you edited it where it was created (DocumentsSimCity 4RegionsYOUR REGION, then you should be set. If however, you created the file from an empty bitmap and saved it elsewhere, ensure you plop it into this directory. After that, simply open up Sim City 4 and load up your region. Then, the next time you load SimCity 4, this region will show up in your region list when you go to load a new region. May not work without the SimCity 4 Deluxe (or the Rush Hour expansion pack) installed.

Some regions or maps come with installation instructions in a readme file that is in the download. If you download a region without instructions, try this general install information:

1. Download the region or map and unzip it if it is zipped. Usually, you'll see a JPEG and a bitmap file.
2. Locate the My Documents/SimCity/Regions folder on your computer and copy the downloaded, unzipped files into the folder or create a folder inside the Regions folder with the same name as the new region and copy the files into that new folder.
3. Open the 'SimCity4' game.
4. To import a new region, press and hold down the following keyboard combination: Shift+Alt+Ctrl+R or go to your Region list and load the new region.
5. You may need to select the JPEG in the new folder.

Maxisland Region

The Maxisland region is a fully developed metropolis with three medium-sized cities that are home to an art museum, casino, courthouse, and 1.3 million sims. A single hydrogen plant powers all three cities.
