Chetan Bhagat (born 22 April 1974) is an Indian author and columnist, known for his Indian-English novels about young middle class Indians. Bhagat was included in Time magazine's list of World's 100 Most Influential People in 2010.

Chetan Bhagat was born in New Delhi, India, on 22 April 1974.[citation needed] He completed his schooling at The Army Public School, Dhaula Kuan in Delhi.[citation needed] He received a degree in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi in 1995, after which he went on to do an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and graduated in 1997. Bhagat worked for Goldman Sachs at their Hong Kong office as an investment banker for nearly a decade and wrote Five Point Someone while in Hong Kong. He then moved to Mumbai to focus full-time on his writing career while working at Deutsche Bank.[1]
